Shark Tank Flipstik Update

Flipstik Update

  • Entrepreneur: Akeem Shannon
  • Business: Stick your phone anywhere
  • Ask: $100,000 for 20% equity
  • Result: $100,000 for 20% equity
  • Shark: Lori Greiner

Founder Akeem impressed the sharks on Season 12 Episode 4 with his self-written rap about his product, Flipstik. These phone case devices aim to defy gravity, and stick to almost any surface even after getting dirty.

To prove to the sharks how well Flipstik worked, Akeem dirtied the case in hair, sand, and spaghetti, then simply wiped it off and stuck it to a piece of glass.

However, despite his impressive pitch, things got sharky in the tank after Akeem began talking numbers.

Unfortunately, Flipstik only had $1,500 in sales in the last month, with just $115,000 in sales over the last 30 months. After some concerns were raised, Akeem shared that 60% of his sales came from retail outlets, which have been severely impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, each case only cost $0.58 to manufacture and were selling anywhere from $15-30. This was enough to interest Lori Greiner and Kevin O’Leary.

While Kevin offered Akeem exactly what he asked for, Akeem wanted to hear Lori’s offer before accepting. This move caused Mr. Wonderful to lose his patience, and he pulled his offer.

Luckily for Akeem, Lori offered him $100,000 for 25% equity in Flipstik, and accepted the deal!

We have great news to share in our Flipstik update! The company is still in business, and is estimated to be worth $5 million!

With many SKUs being sold both on Amazon and the Flipstik website, it seems Lori has helped Akeem grow his company. The various Flipstik products also have great reviews.

A quick look at the company website reveals that the products are especially popular with content creators. The device allows them to record themselves from just about anywhere from their phone, without fancy equipment.

We’d say things are looking great for Akeem and his company!
