Shark Tank His and Her Bars Update

His & Her Bars

  • Entrepreneur: Jennifer and Michael Gallagher
  • Business: Aphrodisiac snack bar
  • Ask: $50,000 for 10% equity
  • Result: No Deal
  • Shark: None

Jennifer and Michael Gallagher appeared on Shark Tank Season 12 Episode 9 to pitch their company, His and Her Bars, to the sharks. The bars are filled with nuts, vanilla, and other stimulants that they claim create an aphrodisiac snack.

A bite into the bar promised a creamy, nutty experience, and the star ingredient was none other than Maca, a Peruvian root vegetable hailed for its aphrodisiac properties.

The founders emphasized that while the bar was meant to stimulate, it didn’t always need to lead to physical intimacy. Instead, it was a nod to the deep-seated human need for connection in our increasingly isolated world.

The story of His and Her Bars was deeply personal for Jennifer and Michael.

Michael had served in the navy and later pursued a dream of becoming a firefighter. However, struggles with connecting at his firehouse led to his dismissal, leaving him feeling adrift.

Jennifer, on the other hand, left the high-earning corporate world, driven by a desire for purpose beyond the paycheck.

The couple faced many challenges, from job losses to near foreclosure, and moved cross-country to restart their lives.

Their venture into His and Her Bars began in 2019, with Jennifer’s intention to create a product that enriched lives. The product launch, however, came amidst challenging times, with sales being limited.

So far, Jennifer and Michael had  only sold $2,000 worth of His and Her Bars. However, as Jennifer noted, the company was launched in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and was less than a year old at the time of the pitch.

The duo faced questions about their decision to go “all in” without ensuring a receptive market, especially given their prior experience in activewear.

Their earnestness was palpable. Michael shared another personal trial, revealing a health scare with a brain aneurysm. Their narrative highlighted a relentless spirit.

They had weathered countless storms, and while they sought financial backing, they emphasized their greater need for mentorship and strategic partnership.

This wasn’t enough to convince the sharks to bite, and His and Her Bars left Shark Tank without an offer. Some even suggested that Jennifer and Michael call it quits and start working on a new business idea.

So, what happened to the company after Shark Tank? Let’s take a look at our His and Hers Bars update.

We have unfortunate news to report in our His and Her Bars update. Despite receiving an initial boost in sales after airing on Shark Tank, His and Hers Bars are now out of business.

During our research, we could not locate a website, or any other sign of life. Additionally, products do not appear to be available anywhere.

Further, in February 2022 Michael and Jennifer posted on Instagram that they were “grateful for going on Shark Tank last year and have decided to move in another direction with our business ventures.”

This will be our final His and Hers Bars update.
