Founders Khasha and Maynard appeared on Shark Tank Season 12 Episode 4 to pitch their chicken salt company, Jada Spices. The company creates and sells vegan chicken salts that can go on almost any type of food.
Jada Spices is an all-purpose seasoning and the 5 flavor combo pack comes with the following flavors: Original, Reduced Sodium, Red Pepper, Lime, and Barbecue. The spice set is US-made, gluten & MSG-free, non-GMO certified, and has no soy, no additives, is paleo-friendly, and is vegan parve.
Jada Spices founders noted that it is getting ready to launch a plant-based chicken mix that they hope will revolutionize the industry. The sharks were quickly impressed with Jada Spices, praising the flavor of the salts and tastes of the plant-based chicken.
The good impressions continued when Khasha and Maynard shared about their earnings. They had sold $319,000 worth of chicken salt in 2019, and were on track to sell around $500,000 in 2020.
Khasha and Maynard also noted that this does not include sales for the plant-based chicken mix, as it hadn’t launched yet at the time of recording. Despite high margins and a solid pitch, most of the sharks were afraid to go into the food and spices niche and opted out of the deal.
However, Barbara Corcoran offered them $250,000 for 33% equity, which they accepted.

We have good news to share in our Jada Spices update! A look at the company website shows that it did in fact manage to launch its plant-based chicken mix prior to airing on the show.
They’ve also added some new products to their Jada Spices line since then, and customers seem to be loving them. Valerie Bertinelli even featured their salts on her cooking show!
