PetPlate is a pet food delivery service specializing in customized, human-quality pet food. Renaldo even goes as far as to give the sharks a taste of the food it gives to pets, which the sharks seemed to love. Mark Cuban, in particular, liked the taste.
According to Renaldo, PetPlate had had over 100 subscribers in eight months and he hoped that bringing in a shark can help him expand the reach of his Brooklyn-based startup. However, as soon as he detailed his plans, Kevin O’Leary expressed his worries. He explained that it will take a lot of money to scale the business while Robert Herjavec pointed out his concerns about the delivery model.
Lori Greiner was also concerned with the business. She added that PetPlate had far too many problems to solve to grow, and went out. Herjavec followed suit and pointed out PetPlate’s low subscription numbers.
Guest shark Chris Sacca was impressed by Renaldo’s story and even referred to him as a “dream partner.” However, because PetPlate was a competitor to one of his existing investments, Sacca went out. Mark was the last to drop out, as he felt like he would not have been the ideal shark for the investment.
Since Renaldo’s company had low subscription numbers and no shark, you’d think that our PetPlate update would be bad news. Yet, this isn’t the case. In fact, PetPlate is actually still in operation and is even better than ever!
PetPlate still delivers personalized meal plans for pets and has since expanded its product line. The business now sells pre-packaged healthy treats for pets and has received loads of positive reviews.
Although there are no sales or subscription numbers available to the public, judging by the 54.3K+ followers it has on Instagram, it’s safe to say that our PetPlate update is sure to bring a smile to your curious faces.
