Basically, the product allows you to simply tuck your sheets into the elastic headband, without having to lift up the mattress or fold the corners of your sheets.

The idea for The Better Bedder was actually born because Judy needed a better solution to make the bed. When her son was home from college, he chose to sleep on the couch instead of the new bed that was bought for him.

When Judy asked her son why he was sleeping on the couch, he shared that the sheets were horrible. Because of this, he found it easier to just sleep on the couch.

That’s when Judy called Nita and asked for her help in finding a solution. Within 6 months of brainstorming and working together on this project, they sold their first Better Bedder.

At the time of the pitch, The Better Bedder had been in business for just over a year and a half. It has done $476,000 in sales thus far in 2020, and is expecting to end the year with close to $1 million in sales.

However, despite strong sales, Judy and Nita are losing a lot of money on manufacturing costs, as it costs them $33.50 a unit to manufacture.

The sharks were surprised by the high cost, especially when Judy shared that the average sales cost is $63.50.

At this point, Kevin O”Leary chimes in. While he loves the ladies, and their product, the bedding industry just doesn’t interest him, so he’s out.

Mark Cuban was next to drop out, stating that he doesn’t make his own bed, so the product doesn’t interest him.

Promising to help lower manufacturing costs, Judy and Nita receive offers from Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, and Daymond John. Lori and Daymond both offer $150,000 for 25% equity.

Then, Barbara offers $150,000 for 20% equity. However, after some negotiations, Barbara drops to 15% equity, and Lori drops to 18% equity.

Due to her experience with infomercials and QVC, alongside the promise to help lower manufacturing costs, Judy and Nita accepted Lori’s offer and The Better Bedder left the tank with a deal.
